About Us
Who We Are
We range from professional to avocational to “armchair” archaeologists – anyone who shares an interest in (and a respect for) the people who have preceded us. The SAAA, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1985, is the regional chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society.
What We Do
-
Offer monthly public lectures concerning local, national and international topics
-
Organize member field trips to archaeological and historic sites
-
Publish a quarterly newsletter that highlights recent excavations or research in Northeast Florida.
-
Offer educational outreach to schools, community and civic groups.
-
Assist professional archaeologists excavations and assist in processing artifacts
